VIRGINIA FUTSAL IS BACK FOR THE 2021-2022 SEASON

Fredericksburg, Va. September 15, 2021.

Virginia Futsal, USFF’s exclusive representative for Virginia and DC, is responsible for sanctioning Futsal league and tournament play, player and coach registration and the USFF State Championships held in January/February of each year. Teams participating in the Virginia Futsal State Championships earn the right to enter USFF Regional and National Championships each year. Virginia Futsal kicks off the start of their 2021/2022 season with the following important announcements:

Virginia Futsal is introducing a new format for State Championships. Virginia Futsal will host two Virginia State Championships: a North and South.

• The VA Futsal State Championship North will be held at the St. James in Springfield, Virginia on January 29th and 30th.

• The VA Futsal State Championship South will be held at the Studio Center Futsal Arena in Virginia Beach, VA, on February 5th and 6th.

These two state championships are pathways to United States Futsal Regional Championships set to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey on February 18-21, 2022. Teams must participate in a Virginia Futsal State Championship to be eligible to attend United States Futsal’s regional and national championships.

Other exciting news includes reduced player registration fees to help ensure the growth of Futsal in Virginia and the District of Columbia. For VYSA Members, registration is $6/player (less than ½ of the fee charged by other national futsal organizations) and for Non-VYSA Members, registration is $10 per player. Registration for Virginia Futsal’s 2021-2022 season will open Monday, September 20th, 2021. Virginia Futsal Welcomes New and Returning Members for 2019 Season

December 20, 2018 – New and returning clubs and leagues have registered a record number of players for the growing Official US Futsal State Association for Virginia and Washington DC, Virginia Futsal!

Entering it's third season, Virginia Futsal has accumulated many of the ‘powerhouse’ Futsal clubs and leagues around the state of Virginia and the District of Columbia. Virginia Futsal provides an opportunity for growth in the sport that Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Pele attribute much of their skill’s success. Virginia Futsal also provides the only pathway to the US Futsal Regional and National Championships via the VA Futsal State Cup held each January (see below). In October, Virginia Futsal Coaching Education sponsored the first US Futsal State Level 2 License Course in Alexandria and a second course for the Virginia Beach area is in the works for early next year.

Returning VA Futsal clubs Alexandria, FC Dulles, FC Virginia, Northern Virginia Soccer Club, Virginia Rush, Lee Mount Vernon, and UFL (United Futsal League) are now joined by Beach FC/VB Futsal, Braddock Rd, VBR Star, CVU, FC Richmond, PWSI and VISTA. Additional club Futsal programs will be added in the coming weeks.

Beach FC Director of Soccer and Futsal, Marc Waite commented, “Beach FC has enjoyed a long standing and enjoyable relationship with VYSA so therefore it made perfect sense, as we moved into our brand-new Futsal facility, to affiliate and be sanctioned by Virginia Futsal. We look forward to an exciting Futsal future between US Futsal, Virginia Futsal and VB Futsal.”

Virginia Futsal hosts the Virginia Futsal State Championship on January 26-27, 2019. State Champions qualify for the US Futsal Northeast Regional Competition in New Jersey, February 15-18, 2019. Last year, three Virginia Futsal teams became Regional Champions, qualifying for Nationals in California this past July. One of the three competing teams, Alexandria Soccer Association’s 2002 Boys, returned to California and won the USFF (United States Futsal Federation) National Championship back-to-back.

Virginia Futsal has revealed it's new direction and program benefits for this upcoming season. The Virginia Youth Soccer Association program, Virginia Futsal, will be opening up registration for the 2018-2019 season on October 9th. The registration fee per player remains at $8. All registered players will receive a FREE Official Member bag tag! In addition to this seasons upcoming changes, Virginia Futsal has launched registration for it's FIRST Coaching Education course to be held in Alexandria, Virginia on October 20th! The course will be instructed by Bill Sampaio - USFF Coaching Director, and each coach registered will be given a free coaching kit and USFF Coaching Education Materials. VIRGINIA FUTSAL PARTNERS WITH UNITED SPORTSPLEX AND UFL IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA

Virginia Futsal the governing body for United States Futsal in Virginia and the District of Columbia announced today a partnership with United Sportsplex of Manassas, VA and the United Futsal League (UFL) that will help elevate the game of Futsal in Virginia and DC. Virginia Futsal is administered by the Virginia Youth Soccer Association. United States Futsal (USFF) has been governing the sport of Futsal in the United States since 1981.  Futsal (Five-a-Side Soccer) is "The Way the World Plays Indoor Soccer" and is the international form of indoor soccer approved by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).  It is played in all continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players.

The partnership will see United Sportsplex serve as the venue for the Publix Virginia State Futsal Championships held in January, 2017. State champions will then move on to the U.S. Futsal Regional and National Championships held in February and July of 2017.  United Sportsplex will host two qualifying tournaments for the Publix Virginia State Futsal Championships in November and December of this year where champions in age groups U-9 through U-18 boys and girls will receive automatic invitations to the Publix Virginia State Futsal Championships. United Sportsplex will be a Virginia Futsal sanctioned facility where participants will be registered with United States Futsal and receive all related membership benefits.

It is played in all continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players. As USFF’s exclusive representative for Virginia and DC, VYSA will be responsible for sanctioning Futsal league and tournament play, player and coach registration and a USFF State Championship beginning in January of 2017. VYSA State Champions will be crowned in youth and adult age groups and will move on to USFF Regional and National Championships. Additionally, VYSA’s Coaching Education Department will offer clinics and courses throughout the year to help educate VYSA’s member coaches on technical and tactical aspects of Futsal.
